General Manager

Tanya Cartwright (She/ Her)

Sport of choice: Basketball

Hi, I’m Tanya. I have a background in early childhood education with a strong focus on inclusion support and working with children with diverse learning needs, and I am passionate about helping children reach their full potential in nurturing and accessible settings. I am deeply involved in Winnipeg’s basketball community and currently serve as the first female President of the Winnipeg Minor Basketball Association, while also coaching Varsity basketball. Across both education and sport, I lead with kindness, collaboration, and a strong belief that building meaningful relationships is essential to individual and community success.

Keira (She/ They)

Volleyball

A former Volleyball player, Keira enjoys music, arts, and creative activities to stay engaged. She is passionate about creating a warm, inclusive environment where children feel safe and parents feel supported. Her early experiences learning the importance of staying true to herself while respecting others guide how she shows up for children and families every day. Her secret talent? Keira loves karaoke!

Emerson (She/ Her)

Hockey

Emerson grew up playing hockey and horseback riding. She started working as a referee at age 13 and also runs an equestrian camp for kids during the summer. She is excited to help kids feel confident, secure, and supported as they learn and grow. Her grandparents have been a big influence in her life and she values perseverance and showing up, both for herself and for the families she supports.

Areessa (She/ Her)

Areessa stays active by biking in the summer and participating in community activities. She is excited to help children and families feel welcomed, confident, and supported from the moment they arrive at Ready, Set, Move. A fun fact about Areessa is that she has traveled to seven countries and her favorite animal is a duck. She also learned the value of stepping outside her comfort zone through a leadership summit experience in Toronto, which continues to shape how she supports others.

Fiona (She/ Her)

Basketball

Fiona stays active on the Basketball court and can often be found working out at the gym with friends. She looks forward to helping children learn to move confidently while feeling supported and encouraged. Her studies in kinesiology and personal experience have shown her that movement can be fun, empowering, and something children look forward to. Her favourite animal? Definitely highland cows!

Gavin (He/ Him)

Rugby

An active Rugby player, Gavin has been involved with Scouts Canada since the age of four, and those early hands-on challenges continue to influence how he supports children today. Gavin loves all types of outdoor fun like camping, fishing, and snowmobiling and he loves helping kids find joy in everyday activities and adventures. He is excited to encourage children to explore, discover their abilities, and build confidence through movement.

Jessica (She/ Her)

Track & Field

Jessica stays active as a sprinter on the University of Manitoba Bisons track team and races hydroplane boats with her dad. A gymnast at heart, she began coaching gymnastics at just 13 years old, and that early experience helped shape her approach to encouraging growth and effort in every child. She looks forward to helping children build confidence, body awareness, and joy in movement. A fun fact about Jessica is that she can crochet any animal you can imagine, including a unicorn.

Sachin (He/ Him)

Football

A former high school quarterback and track athlete, these days you can find Sachin Olympic lifting and on the field coaching his old Football team. He looks forward to helping kids enjoy movement while building confidence and strong foundations for lifelong physical activity.  Sachin has even studied biomechanics to improve his coaching. His years of training and working with youth have taught him how breaking skills into simple steps helps children feel successful and confident.
